All Island Mold Inspectors

When Should You Schedule a Mold Inspection in Huntington?

You do not always need to see mold before scheduling an inspection.

Moisture problems can develop in areas that are difficult to see, including behind walls, under flooring, around plumbing, inside attics, and in areas affected by previous water damage.

Consider scheduling a mold inspection if you notice:

  • Persistent musty or damp odors
  • Visible mold-like growth
  • Water stains on walls or ceilings
  • Previous plumbing or appliance leaks
  • Basement or crawlspace moisture
  • Roof leaks
  • Condensation problems
  • Damp building materials
  • Recent flooding or water intrusion
  • Mold concerns during a home purchase
  • Recurring moisture in the same area
  • Indoor air quality concerns

Mold Testing and Mold Assessments in Huntington, NY

Every property and moisture problem is different.

A professional mold assessment should focus on the specific conditions inside the building rather than automatically collecting samples from every room.

Our mold inspection and testing services can include an evaluation of visible conditions, moisture concerns, previous water damage, and areas where hidden mold growth may be suspected.

Visual Mold Inspection

The inspection begins by looking for visible conditions that may indicate moisture or mold-related problems.

Areas commonly evaluated may include:

  • Basements
  • Attics
  • Bathrooms
  • Kitchens
  • Utility areas
  • Areas around plumbing
  • Windows and exterior walls
  • Ceilings below roof or plumbing leaks
  • HVAC-related areas
  • Rooms affected by previous water damage

Air and Surface Sampling

Air or surface samples may be recommended when testing can provide useful information about conditions inside the property.

Sampling may be helpful when:

  • A musty odor is present but no obvious mold is visible
  • Mold growth is suspected in a concealed area
  • Documentation is needed
  • Indoor environmental concerns remain after water damage
  • Additional information is needed before determining the next step

Testing should support the inspection rather than replace it.

Moisture Investigation

Mold problems are often connected to an underlying moisture source.

During an inspection, areas of concern may be evaluated for signs of current or previous moisture.

This can help narrow down whether the issue may be related to:

  • Plumbing leaks
  • Roof leaks
  • Exterior water intrusion
  • Condensation
  • Basement moisture
  • Wet building materials
  • Previous flooding
  • Appliance leaks

I recently discovered a very small section of mold in my basement, (approx 5 square ft). Richard McGinty (aka Richie Mold) from All Island Mold, (who came highly recommended) came out to take a look, and asses the situation. Richie took the time, explained everything in detail. Any questions I had were answered, in complete detail. Quotes, schedule times, set-up and communication were exception! Zero surprises Richie and Tommy (his project manager) were super friendly, honest, arrived on time, setup and sealed off the work area professionally, worked long hours and did an amazing cleaning and sanitizing job of the entire basement. I am completely blown away as to how clean everything now is. How much better it now smells and the major difference in the air quality! It is no longer the "Dungeon" but I room I very much look forward to using now. A million Thank yous to Richie and Tommy for the amazing job you did. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND RICHIE MOLD, TOMMY (AND TEAM) AT ALL ISLAND MOLD INSPECTORS. Forever grateful, Susan M. East Setauket.

Rich McGinty (Richie Mold) from ALL ISLAND MOLD INSPECTORS came to our home in Ronkonkoma, New York and helped us tremendously during a very stressful situation. As an active duty military member, I truly appreciated his honesty, professionalism, and willingness to help another military family. During our military move, a moving company delivered mold-contaminated contents to our home, which affected the air quality inside the house. With children and pets in the home, we were extremely concerned about the environment and our family’s health. Rich performed a full mold inspection, indoor air quality assessment, and mold air testing throughout the home. He used professional equipment including an infrared thermal imaging camera, moisture detection equipment, and a particle counter to help evaluate the indoor environment and air quality conditions inside the house. He explained everything clearly and made us feel comfortable throughout the entire process. Although he normally offers HEPA air scrubber equipment rentals, in our situation he dropped off two HEPA air scrubbers free of charge as a courtesy to help clean and filter the air in our home while we worked through everything. That truly meant a lot to our family. He also sent our mold samples to a certified EPA laboratory for detailed analysis and reporting, which gave us a much better understanding of what we were dealing with and helped support our insurance claim process. Not only did he help identify the mold and contamination concerns, but he also connected us with a public adjuster to assist with our insurance claim as well. If you need mold testing, mold inspection services, indoor air quality testing, particle analysis, or HEPA air scrubber rentals on Long Island, I highly recommend Rich McGinty and ALL ISLAND MOLD INSPECTORS. Professional, knowledgeable, responsive, veteran-owned, and someone who genuinely cares about helping people and protecting families, children, and pets.

Richard McGinty (Richie Mold) owner of All Island Mold Inspectors was a huge help to me. He was honest, reasonable, professional, and extremely easy to talk to. He inspected everything carefully, explained it in plain English, and most importantly, he did not try to upsell me or push unnecessary work. Tommy, who was with him, was also wonderful. He was pleasant, respectful, and professional, and together they made me feel comfortable during a very stressful situation. After months of stress, Richard gave me real peace of mind and pointed me in the right direction. I felt comfortable trusting him from the moment he came here. He was straightforward, looked out for my best interest, and treated me with kindness and respect. I’m very grateful for their help and highly recommend All Island Mold Inspectors. A+

Mold Concerns After Water Damage in Huntington Homes

A leak does not automatically mean that a property has a mold problem.

However, water that remains inside building materials for an extended period can create conditions where mold growth becomes possible.

After a plumbing failure, roof leak, basement water problem, appliance leak, or other water intrusion, homeowners should pay attention to more than the surface appearance.

Moisture can sometimes remain inside:

  • Drywall
  • Flooring
  • Insulation
  • Cabinets
  • Wall cavities
  • Ceiling materials
  • Baseboards
  • Other porous building materials

Asbestos Testing Before Renovating Older Huntington Properties

Renovation and demolition can expose building materials that have not been disturbed for many years.

Huntington is one of Long Island’s long-established communities, with the town tracing its history to 1653. That history does not mean every older property contains asbestos, but certain older building materials may require evaluation before they are cut, removed, sanded, or demolished.

Materials that may sometimes warrant testing include:

  • Floor tile
  • Flooring adhesives
  • Pipe insulation
  • Certain ceiling materials
  • Some wall materials
  • Siding
  • Insulation
  • Other suspect building products
